Day 3 report

Day 3 T20 Competition

Game 1 vs. LVCC

LVCC 73/7 Parry 3-1/7 Grace 3-2/7 Ohlsson 3-1/10 Adams 3-1/9
Northwood 157/7 after 20 Bumberry 66(53)
Grace 24*(14)

Northwood won in the 11th over of the game.

This is the the second game that Northwood was able to run down the target score early and give themselves the chance to chase the bonus point of getting to 150runs in their allotted 20 overs.

The Northwood bowlers bowled superbly today in very damp conditions and did and exceptional job to restrict the opposition to 73, Scott Parry was exceptional in leading this charge.
Mention goes to Brad Bumberry on a career best knock of 66, he controlled the run inning and the run rate beautifully and I have high hopes for this unit if this is the brand of cricket they are going to play and develop their skills and understanding of the game plans.
Game 2 vs. Penryn

Penryn 92/6 Matai 4-2/9 Chislett 4-2/7
Northwood 105/6 Pearce 28* Ohlsson 21

Northwood won

With Northwood loosing the toss again, we got asked to bowl first. Our bowlers were brilliant in the first 10 overs, but we let it slip the next 10 as the boys started to show signs of fatigue, and we let Pynryn get away from us a bit with 20 extra runs. I must commend the boys however for their incredible work and energy in the field even though they are starting to look tired. They are showing incredible effort to push through that tiredness barrier to keep fighting in the field. This is evident In the facts that they have taken have taken 13 catches and 5 run outs in their games to date.

Our chase was a tough one, as again that fatigue factor showed and we lost wicket at the wrong times and kept loosing momentum. Jason Pearce played a well constructed innings to steady the chase and get us over the line, David Ohlsson walked to the crease with intent, eager and determined to show what he is capable of. The young man gave himself a few balls to get settled and then took the fight to the bowling attack and shifted the momentum back in our favor, his intensity rubbed off and complimented Jason’s knock superbly. The 2 batted beautifully together and their running between the wickets was top notch, with this pressure on the field the bowlers started to make some mistakes and Jason capitalized on the no ball free hits and the two of them sealed the deal for us.

Another great couple games of cricket today.
